As a solo artist and member of Los Rarxs, FOKINFROID has been one of the most active members in the alternative rap, trap, R&B and reggaetón scene in Puerto Rico bringing a punk rock attitude to said sounds. Recently, he released his latest EP, Joaquín y los Cuchillos, a project that finds the musician adapting his aesthetics to different soundscapes. Joaquín y los Cuchillos starts with “Pretty Bitch”, an alternative and industrial that uses hip hop roots to deliver a unique and entrancing musical experience with familiar subject matter. Subsequently, “Foreplay” is a dark and ethereal R&B and industrial fusion that delivers explicit sexual visuals. Then “La Colta de tu Pai”, an experimental blend of alternative rock and lo-fi hip hop where FROID continues to flex his creative muscles. Later, “Reptil” shows FROID delving into more experimental territory as he blends alternative rock with his always infectious delivery along with pop and industrial synths. Finally, the project delivers “Tote Bag Bby”, a tune that shows FROID’s electronic and dance influences in a banger that’ll have fans of Moby and The Prodigy moving their feet. On the whole, FOKINFROID’s Joaquín y los Cuchillos is a fantastic display of the musician’s ability to continue experimenting with different sounds while adapting his flow and aesthetic seamlessly in the process.
