After starting his career in 2020 by releasing singles non-stop till 2022, Frankie Maloja displayed many of the sounds he wished to explore, something he continues to do in his debut EP Ejpol, a short project that shows listeners his comfort zone along with some genres he’s willing to mix into his repertoire. Ejpol starts with “Cheki”, a reggaetón and ethereal vibe blend that shows the artist’s singing abilities. Afterwards, “Ejpol” is a kush and sex-driven track that continues exploring similar sounds to the previous song. Then “Inusual Bounce 3” is a mix of synths, R&B and reggaetón that shows a bit of the artist’s versatility. Next “Epoca” is an experimental combination of industrial, afrobeat, dancehall, and funk that continues to demonstrate some flexibility. Later, “Leal” explores loyalty and heartbreak through some atmospheric ambient music. After that, “Weivi” is a mix of reggaetón and synthpop that’ll have listeners slow dancing or driving through the night. Finally, “Tesla” is an exploration of trap, drill and glitch sounds that provide a glimpse of what the future might bring for the young artist.
In sum, Frankie Maloja’s Ejpol is an EP that serves as a good introduction for new listeners as the artist shows off some of his roots as a musician, but also some of the genres he wishes to blend into his sazón of sounds.
