As the underground trap continued to grow in Puerto Rico, some of the most active musicians became duo OMVR X JC and solo act Gaby Chuleta. After many collaborations in singles, the three musicians got together in 2018 to release EP Dios Bendiga El Trap, a project that cemented them as some of the artists to look out for in the scene. Recently, they reunited to release the sequel DBET 2 where they continue to display their chemistry when they work as a trio. DBET 2 begins with “Cocolo”, a dark, but laid-back track that slowly reintroduces the vibe that trio carry when they get together. Then “Antetokounmpo” serves as a bass heavy and hypnotic trap tune that’ll definitely play well live as it’ll most likely inspire mosh pits or hasta bajo perreos or twerk sessions. Afterwards, “Jefe De Que?” is a fun and bouncy song that continues the party started by the previous track as the artists reflect on their hustle. Finally, “MDB” closes the project as the trio once again display their chemistry over a beat that is driven by a mesmerizing piano as they touch on various topics namely haters, street life, and the grind.
In sum, DBET 2 is a great display of the fantastic chemistry OMVR X JC and Gaby Chuleta share when they get together as they continue to explore beats that mix elements of trap, psychedelia, Latin sounds, and dark atmospheres.
