“Cacos son Otakus de Closet”: Cerpin Continues to Experiment & Play Around with Different Sounds4/7/2022 After starting his production career with some experimental singles here and there and an EP in 2020, abstract hip hop artist Cerpin continues to expand his soundscape with the EP Cacos son Otakus de Closet. Cacos son Otakus de Closet starts with “3am Drive”, a blend of futuristic synths and minimal boom bap-influenced production serving as the type of song one could probably find in a sci-fi movie intro or psychedelic film trip. Afterwards, “Chloe & Chlai (Reprise)”, an interesting blend of lo-fi hip hop and what seems like the type of dreamy sounds that could be found in old school RPGs like Pokémon and Earthbound or simulation games like Animal Crossing. Then Cerpin presents “CheesYal”, a mix of reggaetón, lo-fi hip hop, and ethereal sounds making it a fun exploration of the genre. Next the project delves into “Thanks for the solace, Miura”, a relaxing ambient tune with lo-fi hip hop elements that serves as a thank you letter to Berserk creator Kentaro Miura. Afterwards, Cacos son Otakus de Closet closes with “HIDAN”, a song that plays around with a variety of soundscapes as a powerful organ sample mesmerizes listeners and closes the EP. Overall, Cerpin’s Cacos son Otakus de Closet is a fun exploration of sounds that can be relaxing for the most part and even funny by reading some of the titles. It is yet another demonstration of the artist’s willingness to step out of the comfort zone while providing an interesting experience to his audience.
