As one of the bands to stay active in-and-out of the scene for almost 20 years, Psiconautas has been one of the groups to continue push the boundaries for experimental and psychedelic music. After taking a break for almost five years, the ensemble has returned with a three-song single/EP, Me elevas/ Quizás será, that continues to show the band’s surreal and intergalactic interests. (art for the project) Me elevas/ Quizás será starts with “Me elevas,” which turns out to be a somewhat danceable post-punk tune with what is a haunting atmosphere at times. Then the collection moves to “Quizás será,” a highly psychedelic and dreamy tune that is sure to expand listeners’ imagination. Finally, the project closes with “Interludio XI,” an instrumental that continues the ensemble’s exploration with noise music. (picture of Psiconautas provided by the group for my podcast) As stated previously, Me elevas/ Quizás será serves as a return for Psiconautas as they look to find their footing in the new spectrum of music while keeping their psychedelic and experimental identity. As they mentioned in my podcast interview, this EP is only the first in what will be a series of releases throughout the upcoming months. Hopefully, those will expand on the group’s sound while still keeping their roots.
